Meyerland resident and HISD librarian, Melissa Buron, launches indie-publishing company, MAB Media, with the release the childhood classic, A Book of Mermaids.
Just in time for summer, Melissa Buron, is publishing an out-of-print childhood favorite, A Book of Mermaids, by Ruth Manning-Sanders. Sander’s sixteen stories depict underwater legends from almost every country by the sea.
“I read and re-read A Book of Mermaids one summer at the Houston Public Library. Decades later I found it again, not in a library, but in a hot warehouse full of old, used books.” Melissa fell in love with the book all over again, but unfortunately it was out-of-print and used copies were selling for as much as $300.
From this desire, she hatched a plan to bring A Book of Mermaids back to life after receiving permission from the Manning-Sanders estate.
In celebration of A Book of Mermaids, Melissa and MAB Media will be hosting a book party on April 30, 2016 at Catherine Couturier Gallery from 5 to 7 PM. Books will be available for sale then but it will hit the shelves May 1, 2016 in local bookstores as well as online. Mermaid lovers of all ages are encouraged to attend.
