In With The New: Recent Work

 

Catherine Couturier Gallery is proud to present a group exhibitionentitled In With The New. The exhibition will feature a selection of the gallery’s most recent acquisitions from a variety of artists, including Ashly Stohl and Harry Callahan, and new works from gallery artists Maggie Taylor, Jennifer Schlesinger, Barbara Levine and Martin Venezky.

Some of the highlights of this exhibition include images from Ashly Stohls series titled Charth Vader, a beautifully captured and sweet natured series capturing the alter ego of Stohl’s youngest son, Charlie, who is based on the one and only Darth Vader. Charlie’s Star Wars mask helps him navigate a world oftentimes clouded by his visual impairments.

In addtion to two new award winning photographic collages by Project B artists Barbara Levine and Martin Venezky, a selection of new work by Maggie Taylor, in continuation of her latest series, Through the Looking Glass, will be on display. Taylor’s work can be characterized by her whimsical style and innovative use of a flatbed scanner and Photoshop rather than a traditional camera to capture the objects and antique photographs she collects.

Amongst these new works the gallery will showcase a collection of hand printed albumen prints by photographer Jennifer Schlesinger. Schlesinger explores the myths and legends of the constellations from cultures around the world by giving them life through vignetted visual interpretations.

In With The New will be on display through April 1, 2017.
