Catherine Couturier Gallery is delighted to present the work of gallery artist Wendi Schneider in her debut solo exhibition with the gallery entitled States of Grace.
Wendi Schneider is a Denver-based visual artist who creates impressions of the natural world with photography and precious metals. In States of Grace, Schneider illuminates beauty amidst the chaos. She captures the ephemeral movement of light on organic forms and preserves those mystical moments when time stands stills. Seeking balance between the real and imagined, Schneider layers images digitally with color and texture. Images are then printed with archival pigment ink on vellum or kozo. White gold, silver or 24k gold leaf is applied behind the image, creating a silken luminosity on the print's surface.
Born in Memphis, TN in 1955, Schneider holds an AA in Art History from Stephens College and a BA in Painting from Newcomb College at Tulane. Schneider’s photographs are included in permanent collections at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Memphis Brooks Museum, the Try-Me Collection, and Auburn University Library Collection, among others.
The artist will be in attendance at the opening reception on Saturday, October 19th from 6-8 p.m.
